About the Role

Purpose of the Role
Volunteers will help achieve these goals:

1. Collect Data:
Gather information about the socio-economic conditions of families, persons with
disabilities, and women in Bangalore's urban slums for a baseline survey.
2. Assist with Needs Assessments:
Help identify gaps in education, rehabilitation, and job opportunities for target communities.
3. Join Awareness Campaigns:
Participate in campaigns that promote education, rehabilitation services, and social inclusion for women
and persons with disabilities.
4. Support Fundraising:
Help raise money through online and offline activities to support the program's goals.

Scope of Work
The volunteers will be engaged in the following tasks:

1. Collecting Socio-Economic Data:
* Develop a structured survey to gather both quantitative and qualitative information about families,
persons with disabilities, and women in Bangalore’s urban slums.
* Involve local community members and leaders to foster trust and encourage participation.
* Employ mobile data collection tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
* Organize focus group discussions for deeper insights into the specific challenges faced by these
communities.

2. Conducting Needs Assessments:
* Work in collaboration with community organizations to identify key informants who can provide valuable
information about gaps in education, rehabilitation, and livelihood opportunities.
* Perform interviews and surveys targeting the affected groups, ensuring an inclusive approach.
* Analyze the gathered data to prioritize the most urgent needs and present your findings to relevant
stakeholders.

3. Engaging in Awareness Campaigns:
* Craft targeted messages for campaigns that resonate with each demographic, highlighting success
stories to motivate and inspire others.
* Utilize a variety of platforms, from social media to local events, to maximize outreach.
• Collaborate with local NGOs and community leaders to enhance the effectiveness and reach of the
campaigns.

4. Supporting Fundraising Efforts:
• Develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes online crowdfunding as well as offline
events like community fairs and charity runs.
• Leverage social media for online fundraising campaigns to broaden your audience.
• Build relationships with potential donors, including corporate sponsors and local businesses, to secure
financial support.
• Share compelling narratives and data from your assessments to engage and motivate donors and
stakeholders.

Deliverables
1. Timely Completion of Baseline Survey Data Collection:
• Gather data for the baseline survey within the specified deadlines.
2. Comprehensive Needs Assessment Report:
• Create an in-depth report outlining community vulnerabilities and service gaps.
3. Execution of Awareness Programs:
• Implement awareness initiatives that show quantifiable community engagement.
4. Successful Fundraising Outcomes:
• Achieve the fundraising targets established by the organization, with consistent updates on progress.

Duration & Commitment
• Duration: Two months.
• Working hours: Flexible,
• Location: Bangalore (on-site for survey/awareness activities) and remote for online fundraising
efforts.

Requirements

The Volunteer will support the Foundation’s programs aimed at denotified communities, unorganized workers, and vulnerable groups. The volunteer will work closely with the program team to engage with communities, raise awareness, and facilitate access to resources and support.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with communities and potential donors.

  • Ability to collect and analyse data for the baseline survey and needs assessments.

  • Interest in social work, disability rights, women’s empowerment, or community development.

  • Experience in organizing events or fundraising activities is an asset.

  • Proficiency in local languages (Kannada) is a plus for on-the-ground engagement.

  • Ability to work independently and in teams to achieve program objectives.
